Privacy policy
What this website collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is short because the site does little: there is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind.
Who is responsible
Shanghai Panelmate Electronics Co., Ltd. operates this website and decides how the data described below is used. Our postal address and telephone number are on the contact page, and questions about this policy can be sent to the address at the end of it.
What we collect, and when
Only what you type into one of the two forms. Nothing is collected from you simply for reading the site.
Your name, company, email address, and — if you choose to give them — telephone number and postal address, together with your message and the product you were looking at. The language you were browsing in is stored with it so we reply in the right one.
Your name, email address, your message, and optionally your telephone number, again with the language you were browsing in.
Sign-in attempts to the staff area record the email address used, the IP address and the browser, successful or not. This applies to our own staff accounts; it never applies to visitors, because visitors have no accounts.
We use it to answer you, and for nothing else. We do not sell it, we do not use it for marketing you did not ask for, and we do not combine it with anything from elsewhere.
Why we are allowed to
Where the General Data Protection Regulation applies, the forms are handled on the basis of taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and of our legitimate interest in answering business enquiries. The sign-in records are kept on the basis of our legitimate interest in the security of our own systems.
Cookies
Two, and neither of them follows you:
- A language preference, so the site opens in the language you last chose. It holds a language code and nothing else.
- A session cookie in the staff area, set only after a member of our staff signs in. A visitor never receives it.
There are no analytics, advertising, profiling or social-media cookies on this site, which is why you are not being asked to accept any.
Who else is involved
The contact page can show a map of our premises. It is not loaded until you press the button: until then, Google is not contacted and learns nothing about your visit. If you do press it, your IP address and Google’s own cookies come into play, under Google’s privacy policy rather than this one.
The site runs on a server we rent in Germany, and enquiry notifications are delivered through an email provider. Both process data on our instructions only. Everything you send travels over an encrypted connection.
Nothing else is embedded. The typefaces are served from this site rather than from a font service, so reading a page contacts no one but us.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as the conversation they belong to is live, and afterwards for as long as we may need them for the business relationship or to meet a legal obligation. Sign-in records are kept as a security log. You can ask us to delete your enquiry at any time.
Your rights
If the GDPR applies to you, you can ask us to do any of the following, free of charge, and we will answer within one month:
- Tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete it
- Stop using it, or restrict what we do with it
- Hand it to you, or to someone else, in a portable form
- Object to our using it on the basis of legitimate interest
You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country. We would rather you told us first, so we can put it right.
How to reach us about this
Write to the address below, or use the contact page. Please say what you are asking for, so we can deal with it without a round of questions.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be described here rather than quietly folded in.
